Mischief runs rampant in Selva, the capital of Egolston, where Prince Drake Silverstar has turned the royal halls upside down. The fifteen-year-old heir may not wear the crown yet, but he rules the castle through chaos rather than wisdom, driven by an insatiable appetite for trouble. Servants scramble to meet his every greedy whim, and even the mildest defiance brings swift and often ridiculous punishment.
But things weren’t always this way. Just a year ago, the prince was more likely to be found in the Royal Library reading a book than hurling it at someone’s head. Then, on his fourteenth birthday, everything changed. His wicked transformation was sudden and mysterious, and no one knew why.
No one, that is, except for a prisoner locked in a distant dungeon. Armed with the truth behind the prince’s descent into chaos, the prisoner plans a daring escape and a race across the continent to save the kingdom before it falls into madness. The fate of Selva now hangs in the balance, and time is running out.
Meet the Author
Scott Richards was born in Atlanta, Georgia and now lives with his family near a castle in Florida, a Disney castle to be exact. He has been writing for more than twenty-five years and is only now publishing his first novel in February 2026 (the story behind the wait is a long one).
A lifelong lover of reading and video games, Scott devoured R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books as a child, often in a single sitting. He spent many late evenings lost in the world of Harry Potter or following Calvin and Hobbes through their daily adventures. Some of his favorite fantasy games include Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Quest VIII and XI, the original Paper Mario and The Thousand-Year Door, and Sierra classics like King’s Quest and Quest for Glory.
Before turning his focus to storytelling, Scott worked for a large shipping company in various roles. Along the way, he became known for helping others and writing exceptionally long emails.
